Calls for application from African nations for the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship in the United States of America for the academic year 2020/2021.

The curriculum is based on core values of healing, education, business and leadership and the belief that leadership starts with internal transformation. This is with the integrity and bravery of young African leaders to make the world a place for all to have a fair chance of succeeding. Is meant to keep Nelson Mandela’ s legacy alive. The curriculum is primarily implemented through a series of residential seminars, which take place over a week.

Benefits of the Scholarship

  • A study materials allowance as set by the MRF
  • Accommodation and meal allowances as set by the MRF
  • A medical aid allowance as set by the MRF
  • A personal allowance as set by the MRF
  • Research and conferencing grants can be made available on request
  • Economy-class flights for international scholars from their home countries to their institutions at the start and end of their studies
    • ** Note: Twice a year, bonuses will be paid. The registration proof and progress report from your university is needed for you at the start of the year two weeks after the beginning of the second half. You pay directly to the tertiary institution your tuition and registration charges while all other payment is charged to you. You have your sole responsibility for or owing every amount you owe before you become a Mandela Rhodes scholar, and the MRF shall not be involved.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship

  • All applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 29
  • Must be a citizen of any African country,
  • Must have a first degree with above-average academic results (70% and above)
  • Within your campus or in your culture, you have often demonstrated leadership.


You will have to make an online application. To access your application and upload your documents and essays, you can log into our web server. The three individuals who write your letter must also log into the website to directly upload their letters. You must allow them plenty of time to write, sign and upload their letters. You can not apply the application without letters and is not accepted.
